Thermal Management Test Bench for the Development of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles

Efficiency Improvement Through Precise Simulation

In collaboration with a leading European automotive manufacturer, IPETRONIK has developed a state-of-the-art test bench specifically designed to meet the demands of future thermal management systems for electric and hybrid vehicles. The test bench allows to gather precise data under realistic conditions to improve energy efficiency and minimize energy consumption.

Vehicle development requires exact simulations of thermodynamic processes under various climatic conditions. The test bench enables precise control of temperature, humidity, and airflow, as well as targeted cooling and heating of vehicle components. Three installed air circuits control up to 8,400 kg/h of air at temperatures ranging from -20°C to 75°C, with relative humidity from 10% to 90%.

Six coolant modules simulate real operating conditions in the water-glycol circuit, with flow rates from 300 l/h to 3,000 l/h and temperatures ranging from -20°C to 120°C. The test bench also includes a robust environmental chamber and a central coolant supply with up to 200 kW of power. This modular and highly flexible system meets all the demands of modern vehicle development.
